She tutors in Creative Writing at Cardiff University.Ī Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Sophie is passionate about empowering others to write. In November 2023, she will be co-hosting the online conference New perspectives on travel writing, migration and tourism with UNESCO, University of Glasgow, and Cardiff University. She continues to campaign on issues linked to pollution and human rights.īetween Cultures: Travel Writing, Identity, and the Global Novel, her PhD thesis - focused on the role inclusive travel writing can play in reinventing what we mean by identity, in a world faced with global challenges. Before that, she acted as the policy advisor for the coalition Stop Climate Cymru and represented 100+ organisations to the Welsh Government on issues linked to sustainability and the environment.

In 2016, she co-authored Talented Women for a Successful Wales, a report making recommendations to the Welsh Government on improving gender parity in business and education, for which she was shortlisted for a Chwarae Tag Womenspire Award in 2017.

Sophie previously worked as a policy advisor and a campaigner.
